Caravan released this 12" in 1983. Caravan was a hugely popular Italian dance band, and covered a lot of songs from Giorgio Moroder, Bobby Orlando, Patrick Cowley, Sylvester and others. One of the band's members was Mauro Farina — even if you don't know his name, you've heard (and probably loved) a lot of his productions, including Ken Laszlo, Magika, Radiorama, Albert One. Just take a look, the list is almost endless.
Caravan - You And Me Tonight
Listen / Buy: GEMM / eBay / Music Stack
This release has elements from all over, some boogie, some disco, and the chorus could only come from an European band and reminds me of stuff from Goombay Dance Band and Boney M. But the bass is my favorite, makes me think of Sex Band.

Wow, I saw there was a substantial break between posts so all kudos to you for returning, its often a thankless task and it seems on average for every two hundred downloads you will get one comment!
I know people do not do it to massage their egos but the people who just download and leave without so much as a single 'thank you' (unless they are requesting a re-up, better quality, the entire album, your whole record collection then you get a comment!) seem to think music blogs operate like some free freakin' Itunes....and they wonder why bloggers go off and do something far more rewarding!
Anyway, I look forward to discovering more weird & wonderful music fom your collection.
I forgot to add, no-one has praised the X-Ray Connection track which is baffling. I have had the album a few years and there are some killer tracks on it...like you say, they have a curious contemporary quality about them and tracks like Get Ready, Replay, the White Room cover and Escape From Space are veritable cosmic masterpieces.
